The adventure kicked off in the beautiful coastal town of Águilas. Hosted by the incredible Colegio Carlos V, the first day set the perfect tone for the week. Participants dove right into icebreakers and workshops, instantly melting away borders. Day 1 was all about meeting new friends, enjoying delicious Spanish food, and laying the groundwork for the week's main focus: digital storytelling.
The SHOOT Project goes beyond simply learning how to use a camera. As noted by the team at Abantu Kultuur, students used photography to "tell stories about identity, heritage, and what connects us across Europe." Armed with their cameras and a fresh perspective, the students embarked on the Águilas Photography Tour. From historic stone archways to breathtaking coastal landscapes, the students had ample opportunities to capture high-quality images for their storytelling activities. Every snapshot was a chance to look at the world—and each other—a little differently.
A project centered on Cultural Legacy wouldn't be complete without diving into the region's rich history. The participants took a memorable trip to Cartagena, visiting some of the city's most fascinating historical sites:
While photography was the medium, connection was the true outcome. The six days delivered a packed schedule of workshops, theatre, and cultural visits, but the real magic happened in the quiet moments between activities. Real conversations were had, and new friendships were forged across European borders.
A massive thank you goes out to Colegio Carlos V for their amazing hospitality, and to all the SHOOT partners for showing up fully and making this youth mobility an unforgettable experience.
The SHOOT Project in Spain was a powerful reminder that while we may speak different languages, our shared human experience translates perfectly through the lens.
The project is supported by the Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps from the Erasmus+ program.
